I Hosted My First Brush Lettering Workshop

Brush lettering was the first creative workshop I ever took—and it completely changed everything for me. It brought me so much peace. That one class led me to calligraphy, which eventually became White Lotus Lettering.

So hosting my first workshop felt like coming full circle.

The Experience

I hosted my first workshop at Austin’s Coffee Crafters, one of my favorite cozy spots in Ripon. The space is filled with plants, handwritten details, and the kind of energy that instantly makes you feel comfortable.

I had a mix of beginners and creatives—some trying something new, others reconnecting with creativity.

What We Learned

We started with foundational brush strokes, then moved into letters and understanding pressure control—when to press and when to release. We learned how to connect letters and turn them into words.

Everything was included:

  • Materials

  • A take-home kit

  • A workbook

  • A drink of your choice

  • A handmade bookmark

By the end of the workshop, every student knew how to use a brush pen confidently.

A Moment I Won’t Forget

At the beginning of the workshop, one student shared that she felt tense, and you could see it in her strokes.

Once she relaxed, everything changed.

Her lines became smoother. The pressure made sense. You could see the shift happen.

That’s when it clicked for me:

Brush lettering isn’t just about technique—it’s about letting go.

The Kind of Space I Want to Create

My workshops are intentionally small. I want to know who’s in the room. I want to support you individually. I want to give you my full energy.

I don’t believe in passive learning.

And I don’t believe in perfection.

This is a space where you:

  • Learn a new skill

  • Slow down

  • Get out of your head

  • And enjoy the process

What’s Next

This first workshop was a test. Now, I’m ready to take it to the next level.

The next one will be more curated. More elevated. Even slower. More of an experience for creative women to learn, connect, and take a moment for themselves.

I’ll be hosting another workshop this spring, and I’m building it with even more intention.

There is a waitlist—and those on it will get first access when registration opens.
